ABSTRACT

With process reengineering and organizational transformation becoming mainstays for many organizations, the major performance issue for information management and technology (IM&T) executives and professionals is speed — that is, speed defined as the rapid delivery of enabling solutions and responsive and cost-effective IM&T services to an increasingly sophisticated and demanding user community. Providing cost-effective computing solutions has always been a major goal for the IM&T professional; however, with reengineering and systems integration projects taking on increasing importance and megadollar proportions, the issue of rapid development and deployment of integrated solutions and enabling technologies is elevated to a new level of prominence and visibility in the enterprise.
