11.1 Introduction In this chapter, physical layer throughput measurement results of multipleinput, multiple-output (MIMO) High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) [1] are presented. The results were obtained in two extensive measurement campaigns: The first campaign was carried out in an alpine valley in Austria. Here, the propagation channel had a very small mean root mean square (RMS) delay spread1 of about one chip (260 ns) due to the fact that scattering objects existed only in the immediate vicinity of the receiver. The second campaign was carried out in the inner city of Vienna, Austria. Here, the propagation conditions were non-line-of-sight with a rather large mean RMS delay spread of about 3.8 chips (1 µs).
