Violence on high school and college campuses has become a major concern and a daunting issue for high school officials, college administrators, and policy makers. In the wake of tragedies such as rampage shootings and killings within the postsecondary and collegiate settings, researchers have begun to focus their attention on school crime and collegiate community safety (Linville and Huebner 2005). We must understand the risks and protective factors associated with school violence (most importantly, rampage shootings and killings), which are paramount toward and congruent with the notion of understanding postsecondary and collegiate community
