ABSTRACT

Variations in the exchange of CO2 between the land surface and atmosphere occur at all spatiotemporal scales. Routine methods now exist for the direct observation of hourly, daily, seasonal, and annual CO2 exchange by photosynthesis, respiration, and decomposition using eddy covariance methods.
