ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, an image capture system was introduced that uses a four-channel color filter array to obtain images with high color fidelity and improved signal-to-noise performance relative to traditional three-channel systems. A panchromatic (spectrally nonselective) channel was added to the digital camera sensor to decouple sensing luminance (spatial) information from chrominance (color) information. In this chapter, that basic foundation is enhanced to provide a capture system that can additionally address the issue of motion occurring during a capture to produce images with reduced motion blur.
