ABSTRACT

Th e lungfi sh inner ear (Fig. 1) has the same components as other vertebrate inner ears. It is traditionally divided in a pars superior and a pars inferior. Th e pars superior consists of three semicircular canals (Fig. 2) and the utriculus. A sensory crista is found in all three ampullae which are located at one end of each semicircular canals and a crista neglecta (syn. macula neglecta) which is found in the utricle just below the common opening of the two vertical semicircular canals.
