ABSTRACT
Detailed discussions of bifurcation and chaos are available in many excellent books (e.g., [6,10,11,18,19, 28,30,32,34,35,43,46,48]). These books also discuss a variety of interesting applications.Many examples of bifurcations inmechanical systems are given in [52]. There are also several journals devoted to bifurcations and chaos. Of particular relevance to engineers are Nonlinear Dynamics, the International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, and the journal Chaos, Solitons and Fractals.
