ABSTRACT
We were laboring under considerable stress, and our employees felt it. Absorbing 5 percent increases in volume year after year, for five years, had created chaos and taken its toll. You could feel it in the labs. We felt that our only alternative, in spite of a constrained financial climate, was to seek permission from our hospital administration to add staff in the lab.
