ABSTRACT

Generally speaking, evapotranspiration is affected (as we saw for evaporation from waterbodies and bare soils) by climatic conditions as well as the conditions of the soils and the vegetation. However, there is a notable difference for soils that are covered by vegetation. Essentially, there are two forces of resistance to evaporative flux created by the presence of vegetation: aerodynamic resistance and surface resistance (Figure 5.8).
