ABSTRACT
As we already emphasized in the introduction to this chapter, there is far from unanimous agreement among hydrologists regarding the concepts relating to subsurface runoff. For example, some authors include return flow as part of overland flow. Others regard it as a completely separate mechanism. As for groundwater flow, some hydrologists sometimes consider it to be equivalent to deep subsurface flow.
