ABSTRACT

County Expressway of Shanghai-Chengdu trunk lines of national expressways in Chongqing, China. The deformation scale is 280 m in length. In the geological reconnaissance work, an old landslide is discovered, which is large scale accumulating layer one and steady as a whole at its position. Expressway planed, which is dug roadbed and maximum dug depth is 20 m, will pass through the middle-forepart of Shanwang Temple landslide. Then the slope ratio of cutting is 1 : 03 and the height of each layer is 8 m, no protection engineering in original design. Unfortunately, collapse occurs and deformation increases when slope construction.Thus the slope cannot be shape as design. After cutting finishes and roadbed reaches its designed elevation, landslide is coming. On the ground, cracks emerge, having a width of 10 ∼ 20 cm, intermittently distribution. For these reasons, dug roadbed uplifts and run-through arc circle chair crack occurs within the scale of 40 ∼ 140 m from the cutting edge. Upper ground There is obvious step between upper and under ground and the step is 1 ∼ 2 m in height. We believe from numerous engineering practices that the old landslide has partly resurrection because of human being project activities.
