ABSTRACT

Laboratory samples from the Opalinus Clay shaley facies were obtained with a 89 mm diameter 28 m long borehole utilizing triple tube core barrels with the air rotary drilling technique. The samples were taken within the Mont Terri URL Gallery 08. The borehole was orientated almost perpendicular to the bedding dip. Laboratory samples were either hermetically sealed in vacuum-insulated foil or placed in pressure vessels at 10 bar oil-pressure typically 5-10 minutes after core extraction.
