ABSTRACT

In order to minimize the risk of slipping on wet surfaces when walking barefoot, the natural stone surfaces should be processed and convenient plate-sizes, physical and mechanical properties should be determined. The purpose of the present study is to conduct physical processes such as honing and tumbling of those natural stones with narrower slip angles more attentively and efficiently and in accordance with the standards and thus to reduce the slipping risks for persons walking barefoot on these surfaces. The study also aimed to determine and calculate the characteristics of barefoot wet floor coverings that prevent slipping. The fact that the construction sector has become more concerned with the slip safety of pedestrians on wet floor coverings, especially on the side natural stones of swimming pools, has increased the importance of this study.
