ABSTRACT

Parallel computing is a technique that allows for the computation of complex boundary value problems with large numbers of degree of freedoms (DOF). Recently, several 3d finite element analyses have been performed at NGI mainly for the design of foundations for offshore structures. Thereto the commercial FE-program Abaqus/Standard Version 6.9 has been employed. It incorporates message passing interface (MPI) and thread based parallelisation techniques.
