ABSTRACT
On the other hand, among some researchers, Fellenius and Altaee (1994) showed that for settlements even beyond 10% of footing width (or diameter) the foundation behavior is not that of approaching or reaching an ultimate failure mode. This effect is called scale effect which is related to stress level experienced by soil which has also been investigated by Cerato and Lutenegger (2007).
