ABSTRACT
The properties of the stiffness matrixK are selected according to the basic features of observed behavior. To reproduce a rate-independent response,Kmust be positively homogeneous of degree zero with respect to the generalized velocity vector d. In order to reproduce an inelastic behavior, K must depend on the loading direction d/ ‖d‖ (Kolymbas 1991).
