ABSTRACT

Upper Pleistocene Kreftenheye Formation and the Holocene Westland Formation are the two major geological formations encountered in the area. Complex subsurface structure is characterized by composition of clay, peat and sand package up to a depth of −25 m and the fill unit overlays them. The fill has been used in order to raise the ground level of the area for soil improvement. The water level is around NAP −2 m in the study area.
