ABSTRACT
The centrifuge model tests were performed in the Geotechnical Centrifuge Facility (GCF) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The geotechnical centrifuge at HKUST (Ng et al. 2001, 2004) has a rotating arm of approximately 8.4 m in diameter. The maximum modelling capacity of the centrifuge is 400 g-ton. It is capable of simulating an elevating gravity field over 150 times that of the earth’s gravity (g) for static model.
