Thus, twenty dynamic 1/30-scale centrifuge model tests were conducted in a centrifugal acceleration field of 30 G (G: gravitational acceleration) under various conditions to investigate the actual conditions of the dynamic response of the sewer trunk culverts. In the tests, the distributions of normal and tangential earth pressures acting on three types of model culverts (A-type, B-type and C-type), as well as the distribution of bending strains produced in the walls of the model culverts, were accurately measured during strong simulated seismic loading.
