ABSTRACT
The idea of providing additional confinement has resulted in various researchers exploring the feasibility of skirted foundations. A skirt is a wall made around the footing made of reinforced cement concrete, ferro-cement or mild steel. Such a skirt or box provides additional confinement to the soil supporting the footing.
