1 INTRODUCTION

Model pile testing is extensively performed due to the expense associated with full-scale instrumented load testing of piles. Model tests provide an opportunity to perform parametric studies in which a number of variables such as pile length, pile diameter, test procedure and installation method can be investigated. Such studies are generally not commercially feasible on most projects.
