Infrastructure constructions on soft clay deposits are often plagued with problems associated with incompetent subsoil characterized by low bearing capacity and excessive settlements. To improve the engineering properties of soft clay strata, a variety of ground improvement techniques are practiced, one of which is the sand compaction pile (SCP) method.
