ABSTRACT

A fully simultaneous and independent 2D (H and V) shaker was developed for the existing IWHR centrifuge recently by ANCO Engineers in the USA. Figure 1a+b presents photographs of the original centrifuge and the replacement basket with the 2D vibrator. This replacement basket is sufficiently rigid and massive to act as the internal shake table reaction mass, to guide the table motions via linear bearings, and to maintain rigidity to over 400 Hz. Note that the 2D basket replaces the original counterweight basket and consequently the original model basket can still be used for high g experiments.
