ABSTRACT

Reclaimed areas constitute special types of land that can be used for agriculture and forestry. Constituting urban soils, they have considerably different properties to naturally formed soils, such as lack of humus accumulation, nutrient scarcity and variable crop yields. Nevertheless, as areas in use they should be qualitatively classified, at least due to the need to evaluate the quality of land reclamation works and development. However, qualitative classification of this land type requires the development of a special assessment algorithm adjusted for land characteristics, which would, as far as possible, allow land to be properly positioned within the series of soil-quality valuation classes.
