ABSTRACT
At the moment, the landfill site is used for storage of the blast-furnace and oxygen-furnace slag and for landfilling other solid waste. The site covers an area of 156 hectares and stands up to 23 metres high above ground level. The facility is divided into three parts:
– part B – an area of 8 hectares dedicated to the storage and recovery of slag from basic oxygen steelmaking,
– part C – an area of 89 hectares dedicated to the storage and recovery of slag from blast furnaces,
– part D – an area of 59 hectares for other waste landfilling.
