ABSTRACT

If the question is a matter of conŠrming that a suspect impression could have been the product of jumping oˆ a fence, then the soil should be tested. •e testing may include a series of impacts by an individual of similar or greater weight wearing the same model and size of shoe. While the percentage composition of the soil could help, several samples should be tested, and soil samples for further, more exhaustive laboratory examination should be collected for submission. •e suspect’s shoes should be wrapped to preserve soil entrapped in the outsole, which can also be further analyzed.
