On the Geometry and Dynamics of Iterated Rational Maps

Most of us are first introduced to functions such as f(z) = z2 − c as static objects. We would think of this function as describing a parabola. From the static point of view, it seems that we have learned about all there is to know about a quadratic function after we have finished a year of high school algebra.
