ABSTRACT
Soon after young Leonhard’s fi rst birthday, Paul was named pastor of the Reformed church in Riehen , a small town about an hour’s walk outside of Basel , where he would preach every Sunday for the rest of his life. e residence that was provided for the pastor was cramped-only two rooms, of which one was designated as the pastor’s study. e Eulers produced four children, of whom the oldest was Leonhard, followed by two daughters and then another son.
