ABSTRACT

With the availability of purified fish GTHs, enough information has been obtained over the last few years on the biology of GTH I and GTH II to recognize the existence of a significant functional homology between GTH I and FSH and between GTH II and LH. In view of these findings, a change in terminology was recently proposed from GTH I to FSH and from GTH II to LH (Planas et al., 2000). Consequently, fish GTHs are referred to in the existing literature as fish FSH and LH.
