ABSTRACT

Host-microbe interactions are complex and dynamic. The interactions are as diverse as the organisms involved. The interactions can be accidental or obligatory and result in temporary or persistent associations, which can involve delicate or strong molecular and cellular responses. Broadly the outcome of such interactions is a refl ection of the properties of the microbial agent and the ability of the host to respond to the interaction. The fi nal outcome for the host may be health or disease. Microorganisms enter the human body through air, food, drinks and skin contacts. Some of them are harmful, some neutral, and some are benefi cial. Microorganisms living symbiotically inside the human body may have wide range of effects on basic biological functions such as development, re production and immunity.
