ABSTRACT

Sodium-cooled fast reactor (SFR) features fast neutron spectrum core and enables a closed fuel cycle. In addition to energy production, the additional primary missions for the SFR are management of high-level wastes and management of plutonium and other actinides. The Generation IV Technology Roadmap identiŒes the SFR as a promising technology to perform in particular the missions of sustainability, actinide management, and electricity production if enhanced economics for the system could be realized [1].
