ABSTRACT

Introduction Pediatrics is the medical specialty that focuses on the medical and psychosocial aspects of growth and development in children and on those diseases, disorders, problems, and variations that impact normal growth and development. Growth typically concerns size, while development concerns function. More specically, development often refers to higher cortical functions such as intelligence, language and learning, the expression of emotions, and socialization. Child development is studied by a variety of diverse professionals, each of whom brings a di•erent perspective to the topic. ’e research literature in any one of these elds is challenging to a single professional.
