ABSTRACT

The public sector collects and uses spatial data for preparing, implementing, and evaluating policy and for providing ef’cient services to citizens (e.g., in the domains of land use, spatial planning, environmental policy, transport, agriculture, public utilities, national defense, and emergency services). However, public sector spatial data are also of great value outside the public sector. Citizens and companies need reliable spatial data for making their decisions on buying a new house or determining the location of a new company branch.
