Application of Molecular Cytogenetics in Fundamental and Applied Research of Potato

Development of plant molecular cytogenetics was reviewed by Puertas and Naranjo (2008), Jiang and Gill (1994, 2006), and Schwarzacher (2003). The history of potato cytogenetics was reviewed in our previous paper (Gavrilenko 2007). Here we consider achievements in this fi eld of potato research made during recent years with special attention to the application of fl uorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in potato genetics and breeding.
