ABSTRACT

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is an important fruit crop of subtropical countries. In India, it is grown almost in all the states. Wilt is one of the most destructive diseases for guava plants in India and losses due to wilt disease are substantial. It can be said that wilt is the only disease of guava which

has threatened guava cultivation in our country (Misra 2006). Psidium guajava wilt is prevalent in India, Latin America, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, South Asia and Taiwan (Gupta et al. 2010a). Fusarium, in particular F. oxysporum f. sp. psidii is the predominant pathogen for wilt of guava. The other species Fusarium solani is also dominates in isolation (Misra and Gupta 2007).
