ABSTRACT
This part of the strawberry chapter describes progress in strawberry genomics, proteomics and metabolomics, and summarizes some of the recent progress that has been made in strawberry gene discovery and characterization since the review by Folta and Davis (2006). Where appropriate, potential directions in the fi eld will be discussed, highlighting some of the progress described at two somewhat recent meetings: The VI International Strawberry Symposium held in Huelva, Spain in March 2008; and The International Rosaceae Meeting held in Pichon, Chile, also in March 2008.
