ABSTRACT
During the last approximately 500 years since European colonization, most natural ecosystems in Brazil have continuously received an in®ux of introduced (i.e., exotic) plant, animal, and microbial species from other ecosystems.4,14,15,6 These species are understood as exotic species, coming from different biomes, ecosystems, or regions.
