ABSTRACT

Lack of overall speed was the first obvious negative aspect of manual asset tracking. In the past, assets were added to the catalogue slowly or inconsistently and information was difficult to quickly retrieve. Additionally, it was difficult to track metadata information such as polygon count, texture information, material properties, or memory footprint. It was nearly impossible to perform a specific search

based on any of these properties. The library of available assets was rarely updated, making the information it contained potentially out-of-date and unreliable. The tech art team at Volition determined that at minimum, an updated solution would require the following fundamental feature criteria:

A new in-house tool was required, built specifically for asset tracking.
