ABSTRACT
The low temperature and lightweight features of an LED are very good for use with paper models. We can use many kinds of paper, even very thin and delicate sheets, without worrying about fire hazards. At the same time, light from the high-power LED is very bright, and we can see this brightness even outside under full sunlight, allowing us also to use very thick paper for LED origami lamps. This brightness is the most powerful reason to use high-power LED chips for origami models. Light from an LED chip will work as a kind of “x-ray,” irradiated from of the interior of origami models. It can penetrate through more than 15 sheets of TANT paper, a type of Japanese construction paper. High-power LEDs give us a new way to show the hidden structure of origami models without taking the model apart.
