ABSTRACT

Conventional instrumentation setups for electrical bio impedance spectroscopy generally either aim towards precision laboratory operation or high throughput, low precision indicator extraction. The concepts behind the technical realization could not be more different. While in the lab application a wide application span has to be covered, requiring high resolution, bandwidth and range, the high throughput application needs to be efficient both in cost and performance, resulting in a highly specialized, but low resolution measurement of a few frequencies in the spectrum and coarse parameter fitting or indicator detection. Both approaches share one major disadvantage: They are generally not easily adaptable for new application specific implementations. The new modular approach was developed to tackle exactly this problem.
