Optimum Operation of Coastal Merchant Ships with Consideration of Arrival Delay Risk and Fuel Efficiency

The efficiency of weather routeing (here after WR) for the safety and fuel consumption reduction has been largely documented and demonstrated. The reliability of the Optimal Route computed using WR depends largely on the accuracy of the weather and ocean conditions and surface oceanic current data. With the recent development of the weather forecast technique this reliability increased and the results of fuel consumption reduction during voyage has been increasing.
