ABSTRACT

In an RCT, patients may have either a preference for the standard treatment or the new treatment being evaluated or may be indifferent to both treatments. If patients with preferences consent to be randomized, then some patients will get their preferred treatment and others will not. It is hypothesized that participants who receive their preferred treatment might be better motivated and comply better with the treatment programs and report better outcomes [3], whereas patients who do not receive their preferred treatment
