ABSTRACT
The test specimens were machined to have a reduced section according to ASTM E8 (2008), they and had identical gage lengths and diameters. SMA Specimens 1 and 2 were heat treated prior to machining, while SMA Specimens 3 and 4 were heat treated after machining. Although SMA Specimens 3 and 4 were heat treated after machining of the reduced section, they were threaded after heat treatment to ensure that the thread dimensions would not be affected.
