ABSTRACT
The US seismic design specification, ASCE 7-05 (ASCE 2005), gives three parameters for use in design of seismic lateral force resisting systems. These parameters are the seismic force reduction factor, R, the deflection amplification factor, Cd, and system overstrength factor, Ω0. A graphical representation of each of these factors is shown in Figure 1.
