ABSTRACT

Focusing on moment resisting frames, experimental cyclic tests have been widely used to investigate the dissipative capacities of traditional bolted and welded moment connections, Dubina et al. (2002), Adany et al. (2001), Mele et al. (2001). Koetaka et al. (2005) proposed alternative weldfree moment connections made through replaceable steel plates bolted to the upper and lower flanges of the beam. Oh et al. (2009) developed an innovative fuse based on a damper system assembled at the bottom flange of the beam at the beamto-column connection.
