ABSTRACT

Traditionally, the non-linear dynamic analysis is applied for most existing methods to obtain this function, such as the incremental dynamic analysis (Vamvatsikos & Cornell 2002), but they are extremely computationally demanding and difficult to be implemented by designers. Alternative simplified methods, such as the IN2 (Dolsek & Fajfar 2004), SPO2IDA (Vamvatsikos & Cornell 2005) are also introduced. Wu (Wu et al. 2011) proposed to directly calculate the structural response through the pushover analysis. On the basis of the relationship between the inelastic dynamic factor and the ductility factor, the seismic intensity of each point in the capacity curve is calculated, which generates the response curve. Not only this procedure keeps the advantages of pushover, like simple and fast, but also it obtains the whole response curve easily and quickly. This paper also uses this methodology for research.
