ABSTRACT

The general structural LCF system layout is a plane frame consisting of linked columns and moment frames. The linked column (LC) consists of closely spaced columns interconnected with short links, which are designed to yield, deform plastically and be replaceable. The moment frame (MF) is the primarily gravity load carrying part of the structural system. Example LCF layouts for multi-story buildings are shown in elevation in Figure 1, where two LCs were utilized.
