ABSTRACT

Flanged cruciform columns are considered as a proper choice for mentioned performance, due to similar behavior about both principal axes. In addition, they have webs in both principal axes which perform as a diaphragm in both axes and resist out of plane distortions of section flanges in beam column joint regions. Simpler process of continuity plate fabrication is another merit of these sections, encouraging engineers to examine and probe characteristics of flanged cruciform columns.
