ABSTRACT
D avid was a great storyteller and had an unlimited supply of them. I soon latched on to this aspect of his knowledge to supply me with material that I might use for my fi ctional writings. His stories of eccentrics throughout the millennia were part of the light fringes of his vast supply of knowledge, and he shared them generously with me, revealing a playful side of his character.
