ABSTRACT
The vertebral column consists of 7 cervical vertebrae, 12 thoracic vertebrae, and 5 lumbar vertebrae (Figure 6.1a,b,c). The fifth lumbar vertebra articulates with the sacrum. Because of its functional anatomy the sacrum will be considered with the pelvis.
